(The Encyclopaedia of Baths in Upper Hungary)
Written by Zoltán Nagy
NSZL–Nap Publishing House, Dunajská Streda, 2018, 136 pages
ISBN 978 80 8104 075 7
The volume presents nearly a hundred spas, hot springs or mineral water wells and balneological spas built on them, many of which have been in existence for centuries, but which disappeared at the end of the nineteenth century, when they were in their heyday, but in many cases are still thriving today, serving both those who wish to relax and those who wish to heal.
The reader can embark on a very interesting and perhaps useful journey through time and space to the former Upper Hungary, today Slovakia, where numerous baths still await those who wish to bathe or relax. This encyclopaedia is an attempt to show the country from the western end of the country, via the Pozsony-Pöstyén (Bratislava-Posteštyň) route, through the countryside of the Vág (Váh), the Garam, the Nyitra (Nitra), the Trencsénteplic (Trenčénteplic), the Ipoly, the Bódva, along the valleys of the Hernád and Stósz, Stubnya, Szliács, Vihnye, Szklenó, or to the spas of Sztóbránc on the eastern border, and the most famous spa and health resorts in the Tatras (Lomnic, Poprád).
The first edition of Zoltán Nagy's book was published in 2004.
