The National Széchényi Library (NSZL) has been Hungary’s national library, the guardian and distributor of written cultural heritage since 1802. Our online content services are an indispensable resource for anyone who wants to access this heritage. Our webpage and other sites have the necessary security clearances in line with this privileged role.

Between 7 and 9 September 2023, the services of the NSZL will be available according to the regular opening hours.
From 6 am on Saturday, 2 September 2023, until 4 am on Sunday, 3 September 2023, it is prohibited to stop on Clark Ádám Square, on both sides of Hunyadi János Street, on Dísz Square between Hunyadi János Street and Palota Street, and on both sides of Palota Street between Dísz Square and Váralja Street.
Public transport is not affected by the closures.

In addition to books and periodicals, the unique collection of the NSZL also includes special small graphic works: the national library has an ex libris collection of both old and modern works, which is outstanding both nationally and internationally.
The national library will participate in the Cultural Heritage Days again this year. We are looking forward to welcoming you with building tours, Madách exhibition and colourful programmes on 16 and 17 September 2023!
