On January 1, 2021, National Széchenyi Library was assigned a new task, based on a government decree issued in December 2020, which defines the tasks of the national library in relation to the preservation of web content provided and made public on the Internet. The decree is the result of several years of preparatory work.
As the largest Hungarian public collection, National Széchényi Library has been keeping a whole range of treasures that can rarely be seen and which may be surprising at first sight. During 2020, however, more and more curiosities became digitally freely accessible via our recently launched databases.
Dear Readers,
Between December 24, 2020 and January 3, 2021, our services provided via email or telephone will be unavailable. Online copying queries received after December 9 will be answered and fulfilled from January 4 onwards.
Further information regarding the opening hours in 2021 will be provided continuously.
A paper written by our colleagues Márton Németh and László Drótos for special journal Digital Library Perspectives, entitled “A blended learning-based curriculum on Web archiving in the National Széchényi Library”, was recently granted the “Literati Award” in the category of Highly Commended Paper by Emerald Publishing.
