There are excellent collectors who turn their private collections into museums that will reveal their academic and artistic taste. Scholars, especially in Humanities, usually are not wealthy people. They collect books, and in the most favorable cases their legacy will be a library significant not in terms of numbers but because of the professional vocation of the collector to acquire valuable, worthy and rare items. This applies very much to Sándor Bálint (1904-1980), the excellent Hungarian ethnographer and culture historian of the 20th century. The present inventory or catalogue is of his 5000 volume library that now belongs to the collection of the Móra Ferenc Museum in Szeged.
Our publication that contributes to the Hungarian culture history proves that not only books but also entire libraries have a fate.
