This is a catalogue of the core material of the exhibition held by National Széchényi Library entitled Hungarians in the Caucasus. (Re)searching the Caucasian Homeland in 19th century Hungary. The aim of the exhibition, based primarily on the unique material of the NSZL collections, was the thorough presentation and exploration of the romantic 19th century idea of the search for the Hungarian ancient homeland in the Caucasus. The source materials range from academic works to descriptions of theories regarding ancient Hungarians in the valleys of the Caucasus that many cases lack factual evidence but were very popular at their time. The manuscripts and prints included in this catalogue, along with the paintings, photographs and textile works related to the expeditions of Jenő Zichy and many other items ensure the contextualized presentation of this special topic of the history of thought.
The trilingual (Hungarian, English, Armenian) volume was written and edited by Péter Pál Kránitz.
