Website of 1956 Institute redesigned

An ever-changing digital environment asked for IT development, so on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Hungarian Revolution of 1956, the website of 1956 Institute – Oral History Archive has been redesigned. We expect that the new design and new structure will make content services and information on the site more transparent, and also make our service safer and more stable.

The most striking feature of the new design can be seen on home section of the site: a successive slideshow drawing attention to the latest information. Constant elements are Hungary & Eastern Europe – Sixty years ago – A press review by a Hungarian refugee, a collection changing biweekly, new interviews made for Oral History Archive, our digital and paper-based publications, and our current events, latest papers and ongoing projects.

Digital content services (Hungary 1944–53, Hungary 1953–63, Private History – 1956 and the Kádár Period, Recollections, Photo Documentary Database, The Anatomy of a Day 16.06.1989, Jubilee websites, 56 on the Fiftieth, Beyond the List, Oeuvres of Photographers, Budapest–Bucharest 1956, Bibliography) can be accessed in the same form and with the same content as before. The number of downloadable publications increased and up-to-date information is available on the publications of our colleagues and on the interviews made for Oral History Archive. The new website offers more content in English on our research and projects.

We begin the year marking the 60th anniversary of the Hungarian Revolution of 1956 with this IT development, hoping that you will like it.
