Directive 2012/28/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 25 October 2012 on certain permitted uses of orphan works sets out common rules on the digitization and online display of so-called orphan works. Following the implementation of this directive, Hungary immediately started converting the guidelines into practice. Our country has played a leading role in uploading data into the Orphan Works Database managed by Alicante-based European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO). In our library, members of the Estonian delegation got acquainted with the procedure of search for rights-holders to be carried out in order to identify orphan works.
