On 10 April 2024, the Ambassador of the Republic of Peru to Hungary, Edgar Pérez Alván, visited the NSZL. The Ambassador of Peru was welcomed by Dávid Rózsa, Director General of the NSZL and Zoltán Lewalt-Jezierski, Head of the Director General's Cabinet. During the closed meeting, the two national libraries discussed the possibilities for cultural cooperation between them, as the National Library of Peru (BNP), founded in 1821 and located in Lima, is keen to develop closer professional relations with the NSZL, mainly through exchanges of experience.
During the meeting with the Ambassador of Peru and his third secretary, Mr Beto Wong, the modernisation processes in the field of digitisation, the management of library collections and the possibilities for joint publications were discussed.
A book on Peru, published in 1791 by the Jesuit missionary Xavér Ferenc Éder, is part of the NSZL's collection, and was on display for our guests to admire.
The building tour also included a visit to the NSZL's digitisation centre, which has a state-of-the-art equipment outstanding in Europe, and it digitises 13 million pages a year.
