Péter Antallfy’s lecture in Sofia, on the 140th anniversary of St. St. Cyril and Methodius National Library

Our Library was a special guest at the international conference held on the occasion of the St. St. Cyril and Methodius National library, Sofia celebrating its 140th anniversary. To mark the anniversary, the Bulgarian National Library organized a two-day conference in Sofia on the past and present of donations. At the same time, the development of books, from manuscripts and early prints up to the modern, three-dimensional display options, was presented at a new exhibition.

National Széchényi Library was represented by Péter Antalffy at the conference where he delivered a lecture entitled Business unusual – repositioning a traditional institution in the global era. He drew attention to the challenges a national institution, founded by private donation and developing in the course of time with the support of a series of donations, has to face, so that it could create a new relationship with its audience and communities by new methods in our global world.
