The Hungarian Publishers' and Booksellers' Association (HPBA) cordially invites you to the press conference of the 22nd International Book Festival Budapest opening on April 23, on the World Book and Copyright Day. The press conference will be held in the Levente Osztovits Auditorium of Millenáris, on Wednesday April 22, 2015, at 11 a.m. (Venue: Millenáris, “D” Building, 16-20. Kis Rókus street, Budapest, 2nd District)
Information about the exhibition presenting the 220-year old history of Hungarian book culture will be given by literary historian László Boka, Director of Research and Academic Affairs at NSZL. Litterateur Anna Juhász will talk about the literary evening related to the jubilee. Dr. Tamás Szűcs, representative of Hungary to the European Commission will provide information about the meeting of European writers, while Péter László Zentai and András Kocsis, director of the festival and president of HPBA as well as Chief Press Officer Péter Szakonyi will give you information about all the other events of the book festival.
Since April 1995, each year the organizers of International Book Festival Budapest have invited an outstanding author to be the guest of honor, to introduce themselves to the Hungarian reading public in a stage discussion and to have them receive the Budapest Grand Prize from the city mayor of Budapest and the president of the Hungarian Publishers' and Booksellers' Association, founder of the prize.
This year, International Book Festival Budapest is hosting one of the most prominent contemporary authors, American writer Jonathan Franzen.
National Széchényi Library will have a publisher’s stand at the International Book Festival Budapest. Entitled Celebrating the Book (A könyv ünnepeL), a rich chamber exhibition will be opened on Friday April 24, at 3 p.m. Our exhibition commemorates the 220-year old Hungarian book profession.
