Within the framework of the Autumn Festival of Museums, NSZL will hold a roundtable discussion entitled Zichy’s Everyday Heroes, related to the exhibition entitled Zichy’s Drawn Heroes.
The topic of the discussion will be why publishing decorative albums flourished at the end of the 19th century, and the curators will talk about their interesting experience with the exhibition, e.g. about the mystery of finding the coronation album. The audience will be informed about who had helped Zichy, sometimes quite involuntarily, get his drawings done at various stages of his life. Maybe it will also be clarified who the mysterious lady was, whose face can be discovered on the illustrations of Demon, or who the great Hungarian writer was, the vivid correspondence of whom with Zichy contributed to the creation of several decorative albums.
Interpretation by the curators will be helped by art historian Orsolya Hessky, and performer Andrea Spolarics will help the audience relive the Zichy phenomenon by reading out letters.
The roundtable discussion will start at 3 p.m. on September 27, 2016 in the Ceremonial Hall on Floor 6 of the Library. At 4 p.m., the event will be followed by a one-hour guided tour (in Hungarian) in the National Relic exhibition space on Floor 5.
We are looking forward to seeing you and your friends at the event!
