About the book:
The bibliophile publication entitled Soldier Album was published jointly by Kossuth Publishing House and National Széchényi Library. The album is a facsimile edition of a beautifully decorated memorial album that was originally published in 1868, on the 20th anniversary of the Hungarian Revolution and Freedom Fight of 1848/49. The memorial album includes, among others, writings by Mór Jókai, Mihály Tompa, Frigyes Podmaniczky, Dániel Irányi, army colonel Lajos Asbóth, and wood-prints made on the basis of paintings by Gyula Benczúr, János Jankó, Sándor Liezen-Mayer, Mihály Munkácsy, Pál Szinyei Merse and Sándor Wágner.
We recommend this publication to both students and adult readers interested in the history of Hungary, and also to collectors of bibliophile publications.
