A Shakespeare-day in National Széchényi Library

As a closing programme of Shakespeare Live (400^th anniversary of the death of the Bard), a sonnet performance of Leeds Beckett University staff and a talk show with lecture by Prof. Noel Witts and Ildikó Sirató, Head of Collection of Theatre History will be held in Boardroom 516 of NSZL between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. on March 28, 2017.

Organizers (English-American Institute and Institute for Literary and Cultural Studies at University of Pannonia) cordially invite you to the programme, where our guests from Leeds, Andrew Fryer (Dean of the School of Film, Music and Performing Arts at Leeds Beckett University), Noel Witts (Professor of Performing Arts), and Teresa Brayshaw (Principal Lecturer) together with some students of University of Pannonia perform Sonnets of Shakespeare. Afterwards you can follow the conversation on issues related to Shakespeare and his sonnets from different points of view of literary, cultural and theatre studies.

The schedule of Shakespeare-day:

1 p.m.-2.30 p.m. Sonnet Performance with the participation of students of University of Pannonia

3 p.m.-5 p.m. Dr. Ildikó Sirató, Head of Collection of Theatre History leads a talk show with Professor Noel Witts on his topic (university lecture entitled Questions about Shakespeare and his sonnets – or what the fuss about Shakespeare’s sonnets is) and, based on the sonnet performance, on the sonnet poet theatre maker, the present-day UK reception of Shakespeare, previous events related to the 400^th anniversary, as well as on experience with these events.
