Hungarian Language and Book Festival in Buda Castle

Hungarian Language and Book Festival will be held this year, too in Szentháromság Square in Buda Castle. Organizers of the festival are looking forward to meeting visitors who are fond of literature and culture.

The event, lasting for three days, features Csángóföld as its guest of honor. Hostess and host of the event will be Bea Lukács and Szilárd Nyakas, our colleagues in National Széchényi Library.

NSZL’s booth will welcome visitors with the publications of the Library and with other interesting items.

On September 4 and 5, our readers can register for a Reader Pass at a discount price. At the Registration Desk, which is located next to the main entrance of the Library, a 20-percent discount is given from the fee of library use.

On Saturday September 5, at 13.30 Ferenc Földesi, head of NSZL’s Manuscript Collection will deliver a lecture on the library of Hungarian King Matthias Hunyadi, known in its time as the Bibliotheca Corvina or Bibliotheca Augusta, which was the first royal Renaissance-era library in Europe north of the Alps. 

On Saturday, from 2 p.m., under the title A forgotten classic: Aladár Kuncz, Cluj-Napoca-based Kriterion Publishing House and National Széchényi Library will present the first two volumes of their joint series entitled The Collected Works of Aladár Kuncz: Black Monastery; A Piece of Marble.

In connection with these volumes, Bea Lukács will ask the editors of the series, László Boka, literary historian and NSZL's Director of Research and Academic Affairs and ideology historian Gusztáv Filep Tamás about the series and about Aladár Kuncz, who has most regrettably been a one-volume author.

The volumes will be available at the booth of National Széchényi Library.

While the Hungarian Language and Book Festival lasts, National széchényi Library and the National Archives of Hungary will hold special guided exhibition tours and there will be free entrance in the so-called Magdolna Tower, from where you can get a wonderful view of the city. All you have to do is to by a book on Szentháromság Square and this will entitle you to an armband.
